I'm going to be setting up 30 new Dells with Windows XP
in our Middle School lab this summer. I'm wondering what
resources are out there to help this transition. Should
I use roaming profiles, or a local default user profile.
I'm sure there must be info out there somewhere...?

Thanks

Lynda;

There are many different ways that you can set that up.
In My sons school, they are set up with mandatory roaming
profiles. I would do something similar to that and limit
their rights. I wouldnt give them permission to reboot,
shutdown, edit the bios, install programs, change
backgroung etc. I would jut let them run the software
that they need, and maybee internet if the school allows
it. The reason you want the permissions so tight is
because kids are always trying to break things, and they
will try to break the computers.

A lot of the specific security can be set up using MMC;
group policy.

here is a link that should help with group policy:

hope this helps.
