Using Word 2003 as Outlook email editor

We have an exchange server. I've been able to check "use microsoft office
word 2003 to edit e-mail messages" for all our computers except one. On that
one machine, the "use microsoft office word 2003 to edit e-mail messages" is
greyed out. I can't figure out why?

what version of word is installed? you need the same version as outlook.
