Using Windows XP Fax

Hi. I am trying to send and receive a fax using my fax console. I have configured it and have it set up for manual. When I receive a fax my DRP Distinctive Ring Pattern rings and I tell my computer to pick up fax. It says call answered but my phone keeps ringing and then it comes up faile - phone is either busy or disconnected.

Can someone please help me.

On the surface, that sounds like it may be a bad phone chord. Does the
modem work with other programs like HyperTerminal?
