Using Windows Update

I've been having trouble using windows update. If I
use either the icon in the start menu or I just type in
windowsupdate.microsoft.com, it gives me a screen saying
thank you for your interest in Windows Update, but you do
not have a Microsoft OS.

I'm using an Inspiron 5100 that I purchased with XP
Professional, so I should be able to get updates in this
manner. I am also a hotmail user and I get a message
that my web browser will limit my ability to use Hotmail,
but I have IE6, so I should not be getting this message.

What can I do to correct this problem?

Sounds like youve got spyware/Trojan infected sys
try Adaware and or Spybot - google search -
