using Webservice and IRDA

Hi,

in my application I call a remote webservice to synchronize data. When
my PPC is in the craddle the connection is established via ActiveSync.
So no problem so far. But I now want to use an external IRDA device for
establishing an connection with the server who owns the webservice. Can
anyone point my to an address where I can find information about
configuring my PPC 2002 to establish a connection via IR? I found some
settings for IRDA but I always had to input a dialing number. That's not
what I want. Hope anyone could understand my issue.

Thank you.

The best way is to use ActiveSync with IrDA, just if it was a cable
connection.
Be sure to have the IrDA dongle configured on the desktop PC and on the
ActiveSync settings, enable the connection with infrared.
On the device, you just have to open ActiveSync, and from the Tools menu
choose Connect via IR

This procedure from the device can be called programatically opening
'repllog.exe' with a parameter that opens it in IrDA mode.
