Using Vista Home Premium with VB.net 2005...

I am looking at purchasing a new laptop and of course they all come with
Vista now. I want to use the new OS but want to make sure that I am not
going to be pooched when trying to install and run vs.net 2005 on a vista
machine!

Has anyone had any experience with this yet? Will I be safe with Vista?

Thanks, Brad

VS2005 works on Vista - you do have to install SP1 and the Vista
Patch. But, once you do that it works fine.

VS 2003 and 2002 DO NOT work on Vista.

I too am running Vista Home Premium and VS without any problems. I
believe the downloads for the Express editions are all ready patched
and ready-to-go, as those are what I have on my Vista home machine.
(My work machine is still running VS 2005 Pro on Windows XP).

Thanks,

Tom,
VS 2003 and 2002 DO NOT work on Vista.
VS 2003 works however with issues, what is not working is not documented
only that there can be compatibitly problems. So better not to do it,
however let say if you have to try something you can do it. I do not
recomend it of course, just that you can do it at own risc.

Hi there - one other quick question with regards to VS.net 2005 running on
Vista...

What about the SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition that ships with VS.NET?
WIll it run out of the box or do I need a service pack and/or patch for it
as well?

Thanks, Brad
