Using To:, CC:, or BCC: buttons to select a contact for e-mail Out

I just installed Outlook 2007 and copied all files (e-mail, contacts, etc) to
it. When I choose a contact from the contacts list using the To:, Cc:, or
Bcc: buttons, the address entered is not acceptable to my ISP mail server.
The server returns an "invalid address" error. If I type the same address on
the address line it works fine.

What is Outlook doing to format an address using the buttons that makes the
address unacceptable? Even if I enter a new e-mail address in contacts with
the e-mail address exactly the same as the display address, it won't work.

Any suggestions? Is this a bug? Or is the underlying e-mail address
generated by Outlook not acceptable to all SMTP ISP mail servers? How do I
see the underlying e-mail address as formatted by Outlook? Does a user have
any control over this?

Thanks, Jim
