Using the loopback adapter

I setup my loopback adapter on my desktop according to the instructions in
the Roof/Fergus book. However, when I try to sync up (using merge
replication) I continue to get 'Network Not Found' errors.

I am using the IP address of the loopback adapter in my internet URL.

Has anyone else had any troubles getting this to work?

Can you do other actions. for example call SQL directly through the IP?

Thanks for answering. What I found out was that there was another place in
my code that was using a different IP address to check for network
connectivity. Thats what was screwing it up.

And yes, I found it by confirming that I could connect everywhere else using
the IP.

BTW, I just received, via UPS 2nd day air your book (yesterday) and I
haven't put it down since! Great book!
