im trying to create a template for a class reunion and
would like to be able to use one form and fill it in for
each person. i have created the template and saved it as
a template. now how do i lock it in and fill it in for
each person.

You lock it before you save it as a template. Then you create new documents
based on the template, one for each person.

What you are talking about - looking for - is probably what Word calls an
"online form." Check this in help. For more about online forms, follow the
links at <URL: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm>
especially Dian Chapman's series of articles.

Hope this helps,
