Using SNDREC32

Me

When I play a CD in my PC, I can simultaneously use SNDREC32 to record the
audio.

Can someone tell me -- when I use SNDREC32, is it recording the audio
digitally (ie before the D/A converter) or analog (ie via the line-in, after
the D/A converter).

I did some reading on the Support.Microsoft.com site about a new driver
called "SPLITTER.sys".... does SNDREC32 on XP make use of this driver?

I seem to remember that the sound recorder makes use of the sound card and
drivers. I would assume that the recording is made via the sound cards A/D
converter.
