Using previous mailbox .dbx

R

Ron W

My HD crashed and I have been able to obtain my
assorted .dbx files for each of my mailbox folders.

However, how do I use these old .dbx files in my new
outlook?

I want the new outlook express to be and show and contain
exactly the old stuff including the emails I had saved.

So, I guess what I need to really know is, even though I
have outlook express on my new computer, how do I get all
of my old stuff into it?

Many thanks in advance.
Ron

Hi Ron,

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97/98/2000/2002/2003 from the
Office suite of products. Outlook Express is actually a separate program
despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or an
OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. The Tomsterdam site
will definitely be able to help you with this particular issue.

If you're accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

I am in the same situation with Outlook 2002. Is there a
way to recover my personal email folders from the .dbx
files?

Outlook doesn't use .DBX files -- it uses .PST files. .DBX files are used
by Outlook Express. You would need to get the .DBX files into OE on the
same machine as Outlook, then export the data from OE to Outlook.
