using photo as wallpaper on widescreen monitor

I would like to use one of my own photos as wallpaper, but I have
widescreen monitor. If the display settings are set to "stretch," i
does just that--shows the whole photo distorted terribly. If I ente
"center" I lose the distortion, but the photo is now zoomed i
substantially and only part of it appears. If I choose "tile" I ge
even more zooming.

I've just reloaded Windows, and in my previous installation I had foun
a way to simply center the photo in the middle of the screen, rathe
than taking up the entire screen with the photo (and thus distortin
it). Unfortunately, I forgot how I did this! Can anyone help?

Thanks,
s

Hello,
Right click on an empty part of the desk top.
Click properties on the menu that appears.
Click on the desk top tab.
Choose the background, use browse to locate your photo.
Highlight the photo, doing this allows the position to become active.
Choose the postion you want.
Click apply.
Click ok.
This is what I do to change the background.
take care.

It's not 'zooming in' - it's displaying the picture at its actual size. You
could resize the picture to a more reasonable size before setting it as your
background image.

Don't mean to butt it, but I have to since I would like such a
"position" option.
I tried this an I get no choice to locate the photo. If I pick a photo
I'm in the explorer browser and my only option is open.
Then I get the typical Center/Tile/Stretch before I apply.

I normally edit the photo in Photoshop (or your trusty editor) and crop
it to the size I need to make it fit where I want it. If I have to
expand the canvas to the left to get the photo to shift to the right or
whatever. But I wish I could position the photo left justified etc. I
take it that's what you mean by *position*.

Hello,
Apologize for being unclear, the second part of the op post indicated
wanting to center the photo.
For adjusting position a third party install is needed.
I use a free utlity:called "Aligner v 2.81", can download from the below
listed url.

Thanks to all for your comments. I found that resizing my photos by 50
solved the problem. I use the Tile position and all is well.
