Mark, no presenter's toolbox is complete without a good graphics program and
for the very reason you ask about: The best way to get a PDF file into
PowerPoint is to convert it *from* PDF. And the best tool for that job, in
my view, is CorelDRAW, versions 9, 10, or 11. CorelDRAW is uniquely adept at
being able to open PDF files (even better than Adobe, the company that
created the format) and interpret the objects and images therein. Once you
have them in DRAW, it's cake to send them out to PowerPoint in a standard
format, like metafile, or TIFF/JPG, or even just across the Clipboard.

If you do not own a graphics app that does this but wanted to see what could
be done with one of them, send me your PDF file and I'll move it into
PowerPoint for you. Provided your PDF file can be contained within about 3MB
(zipped), you can email it to me at

If you need to edit it or it needs to be vector, PDF --> Draw's my favorite
weapon too.
But if all you need is an image, then the steps outlined here are quicker,
simpler and more reliable. And only need the free Reader.
