Using "paste' launches install of random program

XP PRO. SP2.

I recently installed some apps like WinRar and a DVD viewer.

No idea if I made an odd combination of keystrokes or if it's related to
installing the apps, but now whenever I use the PASTE command in any fashion
(ctrl-V, right click - paste, etc) a dialog box pops up and attempts to
look for the installation disk for my CD burning software. The CD Burning
software was installed long before I had this problem. I have to click
"cancel" a few times to stop that routine and in the end it finally
completes the paste. I think it's also happening when I drag files with a
right click to Move or copy.

This is quite an annnoying problem since I used Paste often.

Other than reformat/reinstall the OS, can someone suggest a possible
solution?

Is this type of issue related to a registry entry? If so, would a registry
cleaner app possibly help?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Uninstall each new app and see if it resolves the problem.
Use System Restore.
