Using Outlook for mail merge

hello,
i use a vey old p100 PC with Office 97 loaded on it.
i have been effectively using outlook express for mail merging (usin
WORD) for last 6 years or so. since i could send only text mails (n
html-no stationery-no Word formatting) i recently installed OUTLOOK9
from the same OFFICE97 CD.
i did try a mail merge with outlook97+word97 but the result is n
different. the recipients have received only a text message minus an
word formatting that was there.
can some one please suggest a solution?

Mail merges to electronic mail default to plain text in all versions prior
to Outlook 2002.
