Mail Merge Hyperlinks

Hi Folks - I've seen posts similar to this, but with no resolution .....

I use Outlook 2003 Contacts/Word 2003 to create an email Mail Merge. I start
the merge from Outlook. In the merge document, I include the Outlook web
page field, which is an hyperlink. Once the merge completes, the "hyperlink"
is converted to text in the merge email. Is there anyway I can preserve the
hyperlink format? Thanks in advance.

Did you create an actual hyperlink in the merge document? Are you merging to HTML format? What build number of Word (check Help | About)?

Sue - Word Build 11.6359.6360. No, I used the web_page field from Contacts.
Yes, merging to HTML. Note: I am able to 'hard-code' an hyperlink in the
Word Merge doc.

Ah, now I understand. Thanks for jogging my memory about this issue (which I should have picked up from your original post -- sorry). I don't know of any way to make this work in an HTML format merge. I have played around with such things as { HYPERLINK { MERGEFIELD "Web_Page" } } but could not get it to work. Word apparently just won't combine these. (Maybe someone on a Word forum would have a workaround.)

A link in a plain text merge should work fine, but then you'll have to put up with the security prompt on each item.
