Using old screen savers in WinXP

I have an old screen saver from Enteract that was designed for Windows 3.1.
I can install it, but it doesn't show up in the screen saver list, and
nothing happens when I try to run the program manually. I tried running them
with Windows 95 compatibility mode but there was no change. Is it even
possible to run these apps in WinXP?

I checked the program's readme and it says it can run either as a standalone
screen saver or as an After Dark module. If all else fails, would it still
be possible to run After Dark in XP?

It may not show if it is in the wrong folder. Try moving the .scr file
to the place where other screen savers are in WinXP, although I think
you are on a hiding to nothing.
