Using old DOS App in XP SP2

O

Oliver

Good evening to all,

I have a brand new computer (Piv, 3 MHz) with XP SP2 installed and I would
like to run an old DOS application. On this new computer, it's not possible.
The displayed error message is "Runtime error 200". After several searches
on internet, I found out that my computer might be too fast for this
application. In fact, in the taskmanager, it shows 2 processors. I already
tried to work with some applications that are meant to slow down the PC, but
wihout success. Is there somebody who knows a solution / workaround or any
idea (except the one to go to the museum and to get a 486DX2 or to uprade
the soft ;-).

Many thanks and merry Christmas.

Oliver

XP has an option called Compatibility Mode that can be used to try to run
older programs. Open Explorer and navigate to wherever the program's
executable is, highlight and right-click the file, select Properties >
Compatibility and check/select the boxes, as appropriate.

I have the same problem with an old windows program called Oxford Complex.
The Windows compatability mode settings will not fix it. The run time error
comes up not matter what the settings.
I guess it's time to retire some programs or convert an old box to Windows
95 and run it there.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your answer, but I already tested this without success.
Any other idea ?

Best regards.
