Using Offline Files

Two questions about offline files.

1. Is there a way to retain the folder structure when using offline
files.I noticed that when i did a sync Win XP dumped all of my files in
to the root of the offline files dir.

2. Is there a way to chage where the offline files get stored on the
local machine.

Thanks
Stewart

The location of your Offline Folders is specified in the following registry
key in Win2K, not sure if this is true for XP too:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache] "Dat
abaseLocation"="C:\\Bob\\My Offline Files"

In XP, the default location is C:\Windows\CSC.

Edit this key to specify a new location (e.g. C:\Bob\My Offline Files)

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache]
"DatabaseLocation"="C:\\Bob\\My Offline Files"

The Offline Files folder is usually a Protected OS File, so it is hidden in
Explorer, unless you disable the 'Hide protected operating system files' opt
ion in the 'View' tab of 'Folder Options'.

Unfortunately the filenames are stored in a coded form..

Connect using VPN or at least RDC and use Second Copy 2000 script to sync up
what and the way you need.
