Using names, and related information, in a Pivot Table?

I am trying to arrange several tasks that are assigned to a few names on a
SS. I thought a Pivot Table would be great for this, since PTs handle
duplicates so nicely. I have used PTs many times in the past, but I can’t
remember ever using text in a PT. Can this be done or not?

Let's say Sam Smith is responsible for the following:
Life operations
Foreign General operations
Consumer Finance operations

I wanted to see something like this:
Sam Smith Life operations
Foreign General operations
Consumer Finance operations
Etc........

Can anyone recommend a viable alternative?

RyGuy, Pivot Tables work great with text. It is all about the format of the
Data Table that the Pivot Table is based on. The spreadsheet should look
something like this:
ColA ColB
Sam Smith LifeOperations
Sam Smith Foreign General operations
John Smith Finance

Then add colB to the pivot table as the data and Col A as the Row Field.

After many futile attempts, I just double-clicked on the items in Col B and
it worked. Thanks for letting me know it was possible Charles!

I'm off to celebrate New Years Eve with some friends.

Happy New Year!!
