Using Microsoft Exchange

I use Microsoft Exchange---I guess you would call this web mail of some sort.

I cannot get Outlook 2003 to configure for this. The program keeps telling
me that Outlook can't connect to the Exchange server. Any ideas?

Do you use a web browser to access your email?

If not, it's best to contact your exchange administrator to find out how to
configure it.

Thanks for your reply.

I run a one-person satalite office. My company maintains a server in
another city and I connect to this using DSL. I access the server through
the internet on a remote desktop. My email address is slaved to this server
and currently, I access my company email through Microsoft Exchange. I use a
Palm Pilot though, and it would simplify my life to be able to use Outlook on
my own computer here in the office to keep my contacts, calender and email.
I thought that there was a way to link the two but when I try to configure
Outlook to work with exchange, the machine tells me that Outlook must be
"connected". Out IT "guy" is a subcontractor and not easy to get 'hold of .

Any ideas? Anything simple?

Do you use a VPN with remote desktop? if so, you should be able to create an
account in outlook, unless they have VPN locked down.

Do you know if it's an Ex2003 server? if so, and if rpc over http is
enabled, it would be the best.

But how? What application do you use to do so? Is it Internet Explorer and
Outlook Web Access?

If you're not using a VPN to connect to the work network, then the only
choice you have to connect Outlook to the Exchange server is with RPC over
HTTP and that will require you to speak with the Exchange administrator, if,
in fact, it's even enabled on the server end.
