I really only know the basics about macros and can use it to retreive data in
a spreadsheet to consolidate it, however, I am now wanting to expand my
knowledge a bit further and would like to learn about using macros to import
data from external applications but don't know where to start?

any help would be appreciated

thanks

Hi

firstly i'ld check out data / get external data and see if the options under
here meet your needs.

as basically importing data from external sources depends a lot on what the
external source is and if there's a way of accessing it.

The answer depends on how the data can be made available to Excel. Do these
applications have a name? Is it SAP, Hyperion, Baan? Do they offer some kind
of programmatic interface. Maube they only produce data as a text file.
Please tell more about the applications that provide the data.

built, All I really know is it is MS compatible and has the macros function
in the tools menu.

thanks
