Using itunes with windows MC

Media center does not see my itunes music files. Is there a way that I
can get this to happen? I have ripped and also downloaded files and
I'm not sure if I need to convert them or what. Help!
 
So, when I look in explorer, the file type listed is mpeg-4. none of
them were downloaded from itunes music store.

If they're in iTunes AAC format then WMP can't see them. They would have
to be converted to MP3 or WMA (noting that ANY conversion loses quality,
even at the same bitrate).
