Using % in a calculation?

I am trying to get a figure to the net value, so without tax...

so say £100-17.5%

I cant get it to calculate using the % sign, is there another way to do it?

£100*.825
actually if the tax is 17.5% then:
£100/1.175
gives you a more accurate value.
