Using HP Officejet K 60xi with MSFT XP

I have the HP Officejet K 60xi which is a
printer/fax/copier and scanner. I was able to load the
drivers for XP from the HP website and initiate the
printing function. It won't, however, scan or fax. The
HP tech support people told me that it is an XP related
issue. Are there any known fixes?
