Windows xp won't load due to corrupt file:\Windows\System32\Config\System. So
I go online to knowledge base and was pleased to see the guided help tool
available for use.

So I have downloaded and saved the guided_help.exe file to 3 different
removable mediums so that I can use it on the computer that won't start.

They are:
flash drive
CD
external backup drive

I can't figure out how to get any of them to work and run the exe file that
is saved on them.

I am using recovery console and I'm logged onto windows using an
administrator acct.

The backup drive and flash drive when plugged into the usb don't appear when
I use the map command and the cd drive won't open to eject the XP cd that I
use to get to recovery console.

I have searched and read all that I could find relating to using guided help
on another computer and the final instruction I get is to put the removable
medium containing guided help.exe into the computer. no further instructions
are given and I can't get the guided help file to execute.

What am I missing or doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Anyone?

I am thinking that I am just missing something easy here. If more
information is needed I will gladly provide.

If I am in the wrong forum or could have a better chance of getting my
question answered in another forum can anyone suggest where that my be?

Thanks again to all who reply.

If you can't run the "guided help tool" on another system and do as
suggested to the other, (Perhaps it doesn't work that way; never tried
it.) try the following Google Groups post which has three things you can
try:

Hi, I asked a local expert and he replied with this:
The issue is that removable media won't appear when using Recovery Console
unless somebody has changed the
access level.

CD option could have worked for him, as he should have been able to copy
the Guided_help.exe from CD drive to
local hard disk, but he says that the CD drive is not opening.

So if you can borrow a CD drive from a nearby computer, you should be able
to make this happen.
