Using "Find" to locate Keys....advice please

D

Dermot

When locating Registry Keys I usually manually browse explorer.

Using Menu Edit |"Find" feature within the Registry Editor and pasting a key
like:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

Then clicking " Find Next" the search is performed......but it doesn't
locate the correct Key.

Question 1
Am I using this feature correctly?

Question 2
Any other advice regarding what I may be overlooking?

Thanks

No

Search just for "Shell Folders", not the path to it (them). But since you
already know the path, why bother? Just browse to it.

The key name is "User Shell Folders". You need to remove the rest from
your search string.

Thanks to both of you for the replies.

I knew it had to have a simple answer.

Thanks
