Using F2/F3/F4 to control volume

I used to be able to use "Fn F2" etc. to mute or control volume on my Sony
Vaio laptop. I took my laptop to Best Buy and paid to have the Geek Squad
optimize it, and ever since, I haven't been able to use these keys to control
volume. How do you activate the keys?

Ah yes, the Geek Squad. I've seen the results of some of their "work".
Those functions on your laptop are controlled by a Sony program. The
Geek Squad probably disabled it from Startup. Look for some sort of
HotKeys program or check your Sony manual.

Start>Run>msconfig [enter]

This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab
and find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply
and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time
you do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick
the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".

Take it back to Best Buy and ask them to fix it "properly". They have done
only half a job.
