Using Exchange for News Groups?

I'm using: Outlook 2003/Windows XP Pro SP2/SBS2003/Exchange

I notice that on our Outlook clients there is a public folder called
Internet Newsgroups. This has not been created explicitly so I guess it's
there as part of the default client configuration, but I'd like to know why
it's there. Can I use Exchange as a newsgroup client?

I'm currently using the standard MS Outlook Newsreader, but haven't tried
using this on another client PC. We're using roaming profiles and, as OE is
a standard component of XP, I'm wondering if any configuration is necessary
or whether I can just log on at another PC and use Outlook Newsreader just
as I would on my own PC.

Anybody ever encountered this question before?

JF.

There are groups to discuss Exchange. This group discusses the client
(Outlook). Those that administer Exchange might know how to setup
this added functionality. If it isn't working for you now then you
don't get to use newsgroups through public folders.

It is highly likely that such newsgroups are provided using an
internal NNTP server and contain groups specific to departements
within your company. They are not intended to let you consume your
work time with non-work related newsgroups using NNTP servers outside
the company.
