Using another Upgrade CD but using same CD KEY

My boss had purchased an XP upgrade. He does not use it
anymore (retiring). So he gave me the upgrade.
Unfortunately he couldn't find the CD. Is it possible to
use another installation CD but use the same CD Key? I
know I could ask for a replacement but that would take
time and money so I was wondering if its possible to do
the things I mentioned above. Thanks and I would
appreciate any help you can extend.

Yes you can use the CD you have with the PID from the other case.

It has to be the exact same version. I.E. if the key is for the XP pro
upgrade, you need to use a XP Pro upgrade CD. Full version Key full version
CD, etc..
