Using an Old 17 inch Apple Monitor for a PC??

My local salvation army has a 17 inch Apple Monitor for about $40. I was
thinking of picking it up and using it as a secondary monitor (in a dual
monitor configuration) for my home PC.

Is it possible to use an Apple Monitor on a PC?

You need an adapter which will probably cost you more than the $40 your
are paying for the monitor.
