Using an import template in Access97

I frequently import text data (formatted the same way each time) .. this
data is then appended to one of my tables. Each time I import I have to
define the same field names .. i.e. give the same names to the import fields
as those in the table in Access. Is there some way to have these names in
some sort of template and not have to type them each time.

Some help on this would be much appreciated.

Maggic,

if you are manually importing the text, you will notice that there is an
advanced button in the import screen. This allows you to set up the field
names and types and then save that template as an import specification.

Once saved this can be loaded each time you import by clicking on advanced
and selecting your saved specification. To automate your imports have a
look at transfertext in the help.

Thank you Stewart ... boy do I feel dumb <sigh> ... hard to believe that I
have been importing data without clicking on the "Advanced" button on the
initial import screen ..
