Using a table of contents

When i make a table of contents from numbered bullet points that appear in my
document, the TOC comes up fine and updates whenever i want it to, however,
after each line in the TOC, there is a number for instance
1 Introduction 2
The number 2 ins't actually in my document however it appears in my TOC.
I can delete these numbers manually, however if i do this and then update my
TOC, different numbers come back for instance where there was a 2 there would
now be a 3.
How do i get this to stop?

Those are page numbers, which is what a TOC normally displays. Add the \n
switch to the TOC field to suppress them.

Adelaide,

Also note that each Word section has a page number format, even if no
page numbers are displayed on the page; that's why you have to
suppress page numbering (as Jezebel explained) if you don't want to
see numbers in the table of contents.
