Using a laptop in place of monitor?

Not sure if this is the best place to post this or not, but here goes.

Can I connect a laptop to a PC to act as the PC's monitor? I use my laptop
as my primary computer, but want to get rid of my huge monitor for my PC that
I rarely use (to clear up my desk). Is there a way I can connect the PC to my
laptop to act as its monitor?

If anyone knows of any way, please let me know. Thanks!

I am not sure whether this is what you want, but I think that it will come
close

PcAnywhere is a program that will let you remotely use another computer,
it looks just like you are sitting on the other computer's desktop and
using it. Perhaps that would work for you.

Or you could get a nice new large thin LCD monitor that you could use
on both the laptop and the desktop computer. Those take up lots less
space and uses less power.

Netmeeting will do this too.

Technically, the answer to the original question is NO. The video connector
on the laptop is a "video out" so that you can use a separate monitor on the
laptop. It will not accept video in from the desktop.

Well, I did get a chance to check out Maxivista and it seems to be the ideal
thing for me. But it costs $50. I was hoping to find something like freeware.
Most important is that I can access the primary computer and move files
around.

Can I do this with Firewire and allow the primary to act as a hard drive?

Haha. Correspondingly, Windows is also the ideal thing but if you are
looking for something like freeware why not going Linux. It has
Maxivista like functionality at no extra cost.

:))

By the way they are currently selling Maxivista at only $35. I use it
and could not live without it anymore.

Heh. The last time I mentioned anything related to Linux or (God-forbid)
Apple here I got blasted out of the forums. But, yeah, I hear what you're
saying.

I think I'll stick with trying out the Maxivista trial to see if I like it.
Thanks for helping!
