How can I back-up my Windows XP Profile ?

I am the only user / administrator.

On the Profiles Dialog, the "copy to" button is grayed.
( So is the delete )

or do I doing wrong? Do you backup your profiles from another place ?

Also, how can I save my ISP Info ( Network Connections ) so I dont have
to set it up again.

On the "System Tools - BackUp Utility" I dont see my ISP
Anything under Network Connections is blank.

This is not a network, just my ISP info, I wish could be saved so you just
can restore with a click.

Use Files & Settings Transfer Wizard. Accessories, System Tools.
Allows you to selectively pick the type and amount of user data to
save. Note it doesn't copy it ( Readable/Usable form ) but creates
a data store module, like a Zip file.

Reboot the machine, then log on under a different account. This will
unlock your profile.

It is ONLY me, no other accounts

Yes, there is another - unless you're using the built-in administrator
account (not recommended). And of course you can create more accounts.

I like the "file and settings transfer wizard' suggestion - there's also one
for Office 2003 (perhaps for XP/2002, also, but I don't know offhand)

If it's only you then you're playing a dangerous game, like owning
a car with a single set of keys. What will you do when you mislay
that key? What will you do if something goes wrong with your
account? You're locked out - happens all the time! Create a
second admin account right now, then lock its details away.

Ok, folks, 1000 of thanks for so quick answers, but hold on, because I am
getting confuse here.

Windows NEVER ask me for any password, and on the accounts, I can see only
one, ME.

There is nothing I can do to this accound, buttons are grayed.

If you look with windows explorer, you will see: All Users, Default User and
me, on the hard drive.

But the Control Panel ----> User Accounts, shows two, Me and GUEST

The "User Profiles" Dialog, only shows one ( Mine, My PC ) and shows as
LOCAL Profile.
The Delete and Copy To buttons are grayed.

If I click Change Profile Type, it shows only "Local Profile" and all you
cna do is click Cancel
any other button is grayed.

No matter what, or how you used, I think I should be able to save my info.

Thanks again for those quick tips

There are several ways to create and view accounts. Here is a brutal one
that punches its way past the nice GUI stuff:

- Click Start / Run
- Type cmd {OK}
- Type these commands:
net user {Enter} (shows you all existing accounts)
net user backup xxxxxxxx /add {Enter}
(creates an acount called "backup" with a password of "xxxxxxxx")
net localgroup administrators backup /add {Enter}
(makes the backup account an administrator)

Now log off, then log on again as "backup". Does it work? Yes!
Lock away the details of this account, then reboot and save your
profile.

Excellent, 10000000 of thanks
