Users cannot change password

Whenever the users wanted to change password at their
WinXP, the following message will appear :

Your password must be at least x characters long. Your new
password
cannot be the same as any of your previous 0 passwords.
Also, your site
may require passwords that must be a combination of upper
case, lower
case, numbers, and non-alphanumeric characters. Type a
password which
meets these requirements in both text boxes.

My domain security password policy is et to "not defined".
Even if i set to define it as 6 char long, the users still
cannot cahneg the password. What gives??

Thanks,
Eddie

I would define whatever password policy you want at the domain level and set complex
to disabled [instead of undefined] if you do not want to use it. Then run secedit
/refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce on the domain controller where you make the
change and then use gpupdate /force on the XP boxes or reboot to see if it helps.
Also since you are running XP boxes, be sure that the security option for additional
restrictions for anonymous connections is NOT no access without explicit anonymous
permissions in the Domain Controller Security policy. --- Steve
