i have a stand alone pc which has a admin account and a user account can
anybody tell me how to tye the basic account down without affecting the
admin account please. When i say tye down i mean remove all program access
remove run command remove desktop icons and so on.

Thanks for any help with this.
PS gpedit would be great but only seems to apply to all users including
admin.

The users of the basic profile use one program and should not have access to
anything else like games screen saver and so on.
But the action to tye user profile should not affect the admin account.

Thanks.

Malke, i do have pro but does GPEDIT.msc not apply to all users or am
i missing something and you can apply the settings in gpedit.msc to
individual users?
Since you have Pro, create new user *groups*, add users to the groups
and apply policies to them. Ex. - you have a folder that should only be
accessed by Marketing. Create a new group called "Marketing" and add
users to it (including yourself, of course). Set permissions the way
you want. Now only users who are members of the Marketing group will be
able to access the folder. Here are some links that may be helpful:

The last time I checked, you can't remove My Computer.
Without using permissions, anyone can access any program through My
Computer.

If you are using XP PRO take a look at the group policy editor
Start |Run... |gpedit.msc

You can lock down the system with a series of policies of your choosing
