User priviliges and Word 97

I am using Word 97 on a computer that has Windows 2000
installed as the operating system. When I set the
privileges on the computer to "User" this action disables
the Spell Check feature in Word. If I set the privileges
to "Power User" the spell check feature is enabled. I
would like to be able to set the privileges to "User" and
still have the full function of Word. Do you know of a fix
for this situation? I asked this question on an "expert"
website and received the following answer: "I'm not an
expert in the operating system I'm afraid, but it SOUNDS
as though the installation has put the spelling options
into a users profile, rather than as a global setting -
not sure how one gets round this though - I think you
would need the help of a windows 2000 expert."

Is anyone familiar with a solution to my problem?

it would be my guess that someone has changed NTFS
permissions on the file or folders involved with
spelling.

If you can't locate the file involved, which you may be
able to if you audit failed security items, I would
uninstall Office 97, delete the folder and reinstall it.
