User permissions

I hope this is an easy question - but maybe not obvious: I can set
permissions to Open objects - queries and reports, but not allow the same
users View permission for the underlying tables - is that correct? So the
tables would be hidden to them but they could be queried.

Then no one would be able to link to or import these tables via ODBC. Or am
I just deluding myself?

Thanks for the input & experience.

Using Run With Owners Permission (RWOP) queries, you can deny users
the ability to open tables directly. Instead, they must access the
tables via queries that you create beforehand. RWOP queries are
explained in the Security FAQ. There is a link on the website in my
signature.
