User Permissions

I have been using XP for a while. A few months ago, I
changed my password and the user panel suggested that I
prevent other users from accessing my files, so I said
yes.

Windows crashed yesterday and I had to reinstall it. The
files are still intact on the hard drive, and I'd like to
access them. However, I can't, as I suppose they are
encrypted.

The user name under which I am currently logged in is the
same as the old one.

How do I go about getting into my files?

Unless you specifically encrypted them, they're not, just using different credentials. See Help and Support and search for "take ownership"
