EFS files suddenly inaccessible

Sometime yesterday all my encrypted files became inaccessible. My
system password hasn't changed, and my encrypted file system
certificate is still intact and valid. I can encrypt new files and
decrypt them just fine. I'm confused as to how this happened. Any
ideas?

My certificate is still around, but the system managed to disassociate
them from EFS somehow. Advanced EFS Data Recovery managed to recover
all the files intact. Weird.
