User logon name (pre-Windows 2000)

Hi

Is it possible to configure AD in Windows 2000 server to forget about the
sAMAccountName, i.e. user logon name (pre-windows 2000) (which is not to ask
for this information on user a/c creation)?

You will still need a UNC logon name DOMAIN\username, Win9x clients cannot
use a UPN logon name user@domainname
