User gets logged off

I have one user on my XP system. User is authenticated
and starts to load personal settings but then is
immediately logged off. I've heard removing spyware can
do this. I've gone into recovery and, as recommended by
Lavasoft, fixed bootup to read userinit.exe instead of
wsaupdater.exe. Still doesn't work... this seems to have
been an older problem. How can I see what is being loaded
in the registry for userinit when I can't get into XP?

If you can get into Windows with other user accounts, then you probably
don't have the userinit.exe problem. Assuming other user accounts work
fine on this machine, make a new user account for the person, copy over
the data files, and then delete the old account.

Thanks, but. No user can get in. I've gone into safe
mode and tried admin with same results.
