User Authentication

I am trying to set-up access to Window Server 2003 from
Macintosh. I get the following message: "The User
Authentication Method required by this server can't be
found..."

A recent posting on this forum explains the
problem: "Macfile in Windows Server 2003 is configured by
default to only allow connections from clients
authenticating with the Microsoft User
Authentication Module.. ..you can change the server
settings to allow Apple authentication..." This is what
I would like to do, but how do I make this change? I
have searched the Window Server help but to no avail.

Any solutions would be much appreciated.

Best regards, Alan.

Hi Alan!

I haven't yet installed Windows Server 2003, but in 2000 you'd go to Start
--> Programs (or Settings --> Control Panels) --> Administrative Tools -->
Computer Management. Right-click Shared Folders and configure the Macintosh
services.

If 2003 isn't the same, this may at least give you an idea.

Hope this helps! bill

Hi Bill,

Many thanks for your help, the information is still
correct on Windows Server 2003 and worked fine.

Regards Alan.
