user assignment rights

I am having trouble with using my computer, 2000
professional os. Log on as administrator. Go to
uninstall/install, says I must be logged on with
administrative priveliges. When I go to Local security
settings,user rights assignment, have error "Windows
cannot read template". How do I correct. Thanks

run the following from a command prompt. Some registry setting will be reset
to install permissions and my resolve the issue for you.

secedit /configure /cfg c:\windows\security\templates\compatws.inf /db
secsetup.sdb /verbose
and then
secedit /configure /cfg c:\windows\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb
/verbose
