Hi there
I've been playing around with WinXP and have run into some trouble. I read somewhere that using the administrator account for everyday stuff (games/web surfing, etc) is a dangerous thing to do. However, games and other software doesn't seem to run properly in the limited account that windows provides. I would assume that this is because the priveliges are so restricted (which is why it's a safer account to use for the internet). Is there a compromise account available? I have thought about running all my software except the internet in my administrator account, but I often have relatives and their children visiting and the kids like to play games, and as you can imagine I'm not too wild about having kids playing around in an admin account!

Create separate accounts; yours with admin level and the others limited.

I've got my Admin account set up as well as a limited account. The trouble I'm having is getting anything to run in my limited accounts. Using the Runas option doesn't seem to work either. However, everything runs flawlessly in my admin account. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, but I've got all my non-system programs stored on a seperate drive. Could it be a problem with the OS not allowing limited users or access to that drive?

I don't think so because I have the identical problem with limited account
access with just one drive. Sorry to say it but I'm kind of glad you have
the problem so now I know it isn't just a screw-up I did.
