The Start Menu that you see is a combination of both of these folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
or %allusersprofile%\Start Menu
and
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Start Menu
or %userprofile%\Start Menu
All Users Start Menu: Refers to the start menu common for all users.
User Start Menu: Refers to the start menu of that user.
Right click the Start button and select Explore All Users opens
%allusersprofile%\Start Menu.
Right click Start button and select Explore opens %userprofile%\Start Menu
Move whatever you do not want your grandkids to have access to from
%allusersprofile%\Start Menu to YOUR %userprofile%\Start Menu.
%allusersprofile% is an environment variable that is the path to the All
Users folder.
Typing or pasting %allusersprofile% into the Start | Run box opens to the
Documents and Settings\All Users folder on whatever drive it is located
on.
I.e. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users
%userprofile% is an environment variable that is the path to the user's
home
folder.
Typing or pasting %userprofile% into the Start | Run box opens to the
Documents and Settings folder on whatever drive it is located on for the
logged in user.
I.e. C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here

I've created a user account for my grandkids on WXP home addition and I
am
wondering how I remove some of the programs seen on the start/programs
menu and add others that are not on the menu for their use?
When I click on MS word that I see on the menu it acts like it wants to
install itself but it's already installed on the computer. Does each
program have to be installed for each user?
I hope I worded these question right.
