User Accounts applet locking up

Recently when I attempt to open the "User Accounts" applet in Control Panel
in WinXP Home, the system grinds to a virtual halt. Explorer & Task
Manager go completely unresponsive and I have to do a hard reset to reboot.
Any other non-Windows-embedded applications (Opera, XNews, etc) running
remain responsive and I can even task-switch between them via Alt-Tab (the
taskbar goes kaput as well -- this is the situation as I type this in
fact).

Suggestions?

Have you tried getting to user accounts through the admin tools from the
control panel?

Have you tried getting to user accounts through the admin tools from
the control panel?

Through the Computer Management console? User accounts don't even appear
as an option in there. (I think I only have the one account set up
currently -- relevant?)

'DOH! Sorry Ian, I meant the user accounts icon from within the control
panel. Sorry for the silly mistake.
