I have set up two accounts: Administrator/Computer name/Administrator group
and Usename/DomainName/Power user group on the computer running Windows xp
Pro following a good practice. I encounter a big trouble in employing this
practice. When the user is using the computer, he/she is not allowed to
download the latest virus definition file (regardless manual or automatic
from Symantec) and failure to conduct disk defragmenter. Is it possible to
allow power users to do above activities using administrator account? If
so, please advise how.

Thanks,

Ray

See if this works
Create a local account for the Power User
Username/Computer name/Power user

Gulper,

I had it originally but I found it useless at all in reality. If I create a
local account, how can the user logon the domain?

Thanks,

Ray

He can't log on to the domain but he should still be able to get on the
internet
through the server and update Norton.I can do this
with a standard user account .
As for Defrag, you could let the user right click on defrag and
runas an administrator but in that case you would be
as well to give the user admin rights.

Gulper,

Thanks for your information. It seems the arrangement of admin and power
user accounts sounds good but is not workable in reality.
