User account deleted upon restart

Hello! I have 2 accounts, A and B, both with administrator access.

Recently, when I boot up my system, account B was deleted. When I tried to
access it, I was given an interface which looked like it was freshly
formatted. My files in my drives were still intact, but everything that had
to do with account B, files, settings etc, were deleted. I reset my settings,
and tried again. Upon restart, I was faced with the same thing.

Account A is fine.

Could this be due to the fact that, once, when I logged off account B, it
seemed to hang at Shutting down, so I turned the computer off at that screen.
If so, what can I do to rectify this problem? If it is not because of this,
what then could it be?

Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

I don't think your account was deleted. If it was then you
would no longer be able to log on under that account. It
is more likely that something happened to your profile
folder. As a first step I recommend that you have a look
at your profile settings and the profile folders on your PC.
You could do it like this:
- Log on under account B
- Click Start / Run
- Type cmd {OK}
- Type these commands and note the responses in each case:
set UserProfile {Enter}
dir "c:\documents and settings" {Enter}

Now log on under account A and perform the same steps,
and note the responses again.

Now go back to account B, perhaps several times, until
the problem occurs again, then rerun the above test and
note the responses. Is there any difference?
